about

Recorded in 2007? In the effort to do something fun and experimental Bart Budwig wrote a bass line and talk sang one of Chris Otto's poems over it. This it what came about.

lyrics

I took a walk late last night
When the world was dark
But the stars were bright;
Found and lost and lost and found
I slipped out the back door
Six feet underground…

I burned bridges just to reach you,
Been standing in the cold
For hours just to meet you;
All I wanted was somebody to hold,
But when the dealer’s blind
Ya might as well fold…

AND WHEN THE SURFACE IS SCARRED
WITH TOO MANY SCRATCHES,
ONE SPARK IS BETTER
THAN A PACK OF WET MATCHES.

I’ll be your pawn if you have a plan,
A tuxedo’d suitor
With a stamp on my hand;
Of course you never asked for this,
But I’ll keep bringing dandelions
Like pearls in a pig’s fist…

AND WHEN THE SURFACE IS SCARRED
WITH TOO MANY SCRATCHES,
ONE SPARK IS BETTER
THAN A PACK OF WET MATCHES.

Cuz I am a dreamer
Drowning awake
I am a moth caught
Between your fire and your flame…
